GridBuilt is owned and run by a skilled carpenter and builder servicing the Hunter, Central Coast and Sydney regions. Despite building an impressive portfolio of work and a strong reputation, the business lacked any digital footprint. I was asked to create an online presence that would complement their existing brand while expanding their reach to potential clients who increasingly discover tradespeople through digital channels. I teamed up with a developer to collaborate across the entire project from discovery to design and development.

Challenge

While GridBuilt had successfully relied on word-of-mouth referrals, they recognised the growing importance of an online presence in today's market. Without a website, they were missing opportunities to showcase their work and connect with a broader audience. This gap was particularly significant given that recent reports from early 2025 indicate 39% of Australians use online search engines to find tradespeople, with this figure rising to 53% among those under 35. In a competitive industry where online visibility has become almost essential for tradespeople, GridBuilt needed a digital platform that would generate leads and serve as a portfolio of their quality workmanship - bringing their established reputation into the digital realm.

Solution

We designed and built a focused website that aligns seamlessly with GridBuilt's existing brand identity while emphasising the quality that defines their work. The site features three key elements strategically chosen to support business growth: an intuitive contact form to convert interest into leads, a visually-driven work showcase that demonstrates their skill and attention to detail, and a comprehensive services section clearly outlining their capabilities.

Strategic keyword selection and placement throughout the site ensures GridBuilt appears prominently in local searches for carpentry and building services in their service region, enhancing their discoverability when potential clients search online. The design approach prioritises visual impact through the photo gallery, allowing the quality of GridBuilt's finished projects to speak for themselves - an essential strategy for a trades business where the end result is the ultimate selling point. Though recently launched, the website is already serving as both a lead generation tool and a professional portfolio, with plans in progress to further refine the user journey. As the digital landscape continues to play an increasingly important role in how customers connect with tradespeople, this new online presence positions GridBuilt to meet potential clients wherever they begin their search.
